Jim Robinson’s art biography

Art biography

I am a self taught Oxfordshire artist and photographer who has been painting and drawing from an early age and taking photographs for over three decades. I work in a studio at home in a village just outside Oxford and work to commission  in mixed media, acrylic and oils. I am a member of West Ox Arts and Oxford Art Society. Most recently I have been involved with community arts projects and workshops with South Oxford Community Association (SOCA). I have undertaken photographic commissions and exhibited locally as well as in Bristol at the RWA, at Little Buckland Gallery as part of Broadway Art Festival and The Strand Gallery in London with Greenfingers Charity. I exhibit regularly as part of Oxfordshire Artweeks. I have also been Photographer in Residence at Oxford Festival of the Arts in July 2018.

Drawing forms that basis of my work. Life drawing and sketching outdoors often in my local village allotments is the best way of developing my practice in terms of composition and style. I believe art should be functional and exist in a lived environment so that it brings something special to daily life on a regular basis.
